2024 Lunar New Year Celebration at the HRM
On February 17, 2024, we were thrilled to celebrate the Year of the Dragon at our Lunar New Year Festival with over 700 visitors! This year’s festival included a ceremonial lion dance, Chinese folk dances, Indonesian gamelan music and dance, a tai chi demonstration, plus a samulnori piece by the The New York Korean Performing Arts Center youth group. Visitors also had a blast making their own dragon puppets, creating a model of the universe in our Family Science Workshop, and learning how to do calligraphy and origami.
Special thanks to our community partners, the OCA Asian Pacific American Advocates, Westchester and Hudson Valley Chapter, and the Greenburgh Evergreen Club, a Chinese senior organization based at the Theodore Young Community Center. And thanks to all who came out, including Westchester County Legislator David Imamura, representing District 12! Please enjoy a selection of photos from this joyous event celebrating traditional Asian arts and culture.
