A Record-Breaking Celebration of Lunar New Year at the HRM

Dear HRM Community,

What a truly unforgettable celebration we had this past Saturday at the Museum’s sixth annual Lunar New Year Festival! We are thrilled to share that this year’s event set a new record, with more than 920 visitors joining us for a day filled with joy, culture, and community.

Guests came from far and wide, across all generations, to experience the magic of our Lunar New Year celebration. From captivating performances and hands-on workshops, to mesmerizing HRM Planetarium shows, this year’s festival was an epic showcase of the traditions that make the Lunar New Year so special.

We extend our deepest thanks to all of our amazing performers and workshop leaders who helped make this celebration shine. A huge shout-out to the Greenburgh Evergreen Club for their beautiful Chinese folk dances and tai chi demonstration, Gamelan Dharma Swara for their breathtaking traditional Balinese performances, and The New York Korean Performing Arts Center for their electrifying Korean sogo-chum performance. Additionally, we are grateful to Esther Kho Uy, Ruiqi Li, and Xiawen Wang from OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates for leading engaging workshops on origami, calligraphy, and Year of the Snake mascots.

A heartfelt thank you to our honored guests, including NYS Assemblymember Ron Kim and Westchester County Legislator David Imamura, for their participation in our celebrations. We are incredibly grateful for their continued support and understanding of how the HRM unites our community through these cultural festivities. We were proud to have many HRM Trustees at the event and connecting with our visitors.

We’re already excited about next year’s Year of the Horse, but in the meantime, we have many exciting programs lined up for you at hrm.org/calendar.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us in making this year’s Lunar New Year celebration such a vibrant and resounding success at the Hudson River Museum!
