The Hudson River Museum unequivocally believes that Black Lives Matter. This time, it is George Floyd; before him, it was Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Atatiana Jefferson, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Trayvon Martin, and many others. We say their names.

In light of the challenges we are enduring as an institution and as a community, it gives me great pride and pleasure to share with you the very good news that the HRM’s exhibition, Maya Lin: A River Is a Drawing (October 2018–January 2019), has been identified as one of the best curated art exhibitions worldwide by the Global Fine Art Awards.

Beyond our walls, the Museum leadership and staff are hard at work, steadfast and committed to our mission to engage, inspire, and connect diverse communities through the power of the arts, sciences, and history. We encourage you to stay connected to us through #MuseumFromHome.

In light of the escalating concerns over COVID-19, the declaration of a national emergency, and our deep concern for the safety and health of our staff and community, the Hudson River Museum will be closed to the public until further notice.

According to a new medical study that was published this week in the British Medical Journal, visiting museums can increase your longevity. Indulge in some quality time at the HRM with those you hold dear, and give yourself the gift of self care during the holidays.

On Sunday, September 29, we were thrilled and honored to welcome António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, to the HRM. We at the Museum find great inspiration in his tireless dedication to confronting climate change, advancing gender and educational equity, and promoting social justice around the globe.

Masha Turchinsky, Director, and Thomas A. D’Auria, Chair, Board of Trustees, announce exciting improvements coming to the Hudson River Museum, thanks to support from the Westchester County Board of Legislators, the City of Yonkers, and New York State.

Happy New Year! Last year was an outstanding year at the Museum, with a roster of stellar exhibitions, record-breaking attendance, and new programs and initiatives inspired by art, science, and our shared history. In celebration of our Centennial this year, we will be sharing key moments from our rich history here, on Currents.

As we close out one year and ready ourselves for the next, Director Masha Turchinsky wishes you and your families a joyous holiday season and looks forward to exploring new shores together in 2019.
