Visualizing Climate Change—A Tall Order

It’s Climate Week NYC and hundreds of political leaders, activists, and representatives of various nations have gathered at the UN to address climate change. It’s also FridaysForFuture, and millions are again marching in a climate strike around the world. At the HRM, we visualized climate change over time by printing out an illustration by Randall Munroe of XKCD.

100 Years of Admiring the Moon

“Between celebrating its 100th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of its newer space that houses its art galleries and workshops, the museum had another milestone worth honoring in mind — the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission that landed humans on the moon for the first time . . . . “A Century of Lunar Photography and Beyond,” [looks] at 61 different images of the moon taken from as early as the 1840s through today.”

Art Bridges, Identity, & Adolescence

As part of our collaboration with Art Bridges, HRM Museum Educator Bridget McCormick, HRM Kress Interpretive Fellow Christian Stegall, and Yonkers-based spoken word artist Marcus John developed and facilitated a series of gallery experiences and workshops based on the four loaned paintings in Art and Identity.

A New Perspective

Natalia Villota Montoya is one of twelve HRM Junior Docents who recently participated in a photography workshop organized with the Cooperstown Graduate Program and the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum in Inwood. Selections of their work are featured in Food for Thought: Teen Perspectives on Scarcity and Abundance, on view at the Museum through September 15. Read about Natalia’s experience with the workshop.

2019 Best of Westchester Awards

For the second year in a row, the Hudson River Museum was selected as a top Readers’ Pick in Westchester Magazine’s Best of Westchester 2019. For the first time the Museum has been named Best Tourist Attraction while also garnering Best Place for a Date Night (Other Than a Restaurant) in the Fun & Leisure category for the second year in a row.
