Christine Coulson, author of the national bestseller Metropolitan Stories, reads from her sly and stylish new novel, One Woman Show, in Glenview. Following the reading, enjoy a conversation between the author and HRM Director and CEO Masha Turchinsky and join them at a book signing and festive reception.

Coulson spent twenty-five years writing for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her final project was to write wall labels for the museum’s new British Galleries. During that time, she dreamt of using The Met’s strict label format to describe people as intricate works of art. The result is One Woman Show, a bullet of a novel—written almost entirely in wall labels—that imagines a twentieth-century woman as an artifact, an object once prized, collected, and critiqued. With poignancy and humor, Coulson’s playful reversal on our interaction with art ultimately questions who really gets to tell our stories.

Seating in Glenview is limited; advance registration is required. Reception to follow.
