Author Talk: The Joy of Connections by Dr. Ruth
Celebrate Women’s History Month with authors Mary Calvi and Allison Gilbert as they discuss The Joy of Connections: 100 Ways to Beat Loneliness and Live a Happier and More Meaningful Life, co-authored by Gilbert with the late Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer. In this conversation, Gilbert shares insights from Dr. Ruth’s final book, published after her appointment as New York State’s Ambassador to Loneliness. Explore the practical strategies Dr. Ruth developed, as well as the deep friendship that blossomed between her and Gilbert during their collaboration. This talk, which will be held in Glenview, the Museum’s historic home, will be followed by an audience Q&A and a book signing.

Mary Calvi, Yonkers First Lady, is a fourteen-time New York Emmy® Award–winning journalist and anchor for CBS2 News This Morning, CBS2 News at Noon, and Inside Edition Weekend. She is also the author of two presidential love stories: If A Poem Could Live and Breathe: A Novel of Teddy Roosevelt’s First Love and Dear George, Dear Mary: A Novel of George Washington’s First Love, which inspired a Smithsonian Channel documentary. Calvi is also behind CBS New York’s Club Calvi Book Club.
Allison Gilbert is an Emmy Award–winning journalist and author of numerous books, including The Joy of Connections. She is a sought-after speaker on overcoming life’s challenges and writes for The New York Times.
