Join HRM Director and CEO Masha Turchinsky in conversation with Jonathan Alvarez, Co-Founder and President of 914United, as they explore the transformative power of clothing within the criminal justice system. Alvarez, a formerly incarcerated fashion enthusiast, will discuss how clothing fosters identity, self-expression, and resistance within carceral environments. This conversation, inspired by HRM’s No Bodies: Clothing as Disruptor, highlights the mission of 914United, which supports youth impacted by the justice system through mentorship, skills development, and community resources. Alvarez, who co-curated the 2022 exhibition Clothing Inside: Addressing American Prisons, will share insights on how clothing can challenge oppressive prison structures.

Following the discussion, audience members can participate in an interactive Q&A and explore the galleries with Turchinsky and Alvarez.

Simultaneous ASL interpretation will be provided.
