The Wanda Houston Band (Amphitheater 2024)
Tap your toes and move to the beat with the Wanda Houston Band, which blends jazz standards, R&B classics, and adult contemporary rock, including hits by Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sam Cook, Al Green, the Beatles, and Sting. The talented band is composed of Jay Bradley on drums, Jeff Stevens on horns/vocals, Robert Kelly on keyboard/bass/vocals, and Wanda Houston on lead vocals.
Singer and actress Wanda Houston is lead vocalist for a number of projects including the HBH Jazz Trio, the Convergence Quartet, the VJC Big Band, and Wanda Houston Band. Houston’s bi-coastal career in theater and music put her on stages with Barbara Streisand, Patti Austin, Joe Cocker, Celine Dion, and Rick Astley, and on tour with Motown legends the Marvelettes and Mary Wells, Martha and the Vandellas, and The Platters. After touring Europe and Australia in the Michael Jackson–produced “Sisterella,” she performed in New York productions of “Menopause the Musical,” was featured in the Roundabout Theater production of “A Streetcar Named Desire,” and was a soloist in the NYC-based “Broadway Inspirational Voices,” which landed a Grammy nomination for its Christmas album, “Great Joy.”
