Today’s Mexican Art Scene: Virtual Studio Visit with Andrea Arroyo
Join us in the second of a series of virtual studio visits with contemporary Mexican artists who are making their mark on the international scene today.
Andrea Arroyo is an award-winning artist whose practice includes public art, painting, drawing, and site-specific installation. Her work examines social justice issues, with a focus on the status of women in society, addressing issues like immigration, gender discrimination, and environmental justice and their impact on women and disadvantaged populations. Her style is informed by her background in contemporary dance, celebrating the female spirit and honoring the female body.
Laura J. A. De Riggi, Curatorial Assistant at Lehman College Art Gallery, will facilitate the visit to her NYC studio, which will be followed by an audience Q&A.
Support provided by Art Bridges. This program was developed in collaboration with The Mexican Studies Institute at the City University of New York, Lehman College, and the Lehman College Art Gallery.
