HRM Docent Elizabeth Rodriguez Honored with City of Yonkers’ Community Service Award
The Hudson River Museum congratulates HRM Docent Elizabeth Rodriguez for receiving the Mayor’s Community Service Award for 2022. Last week, Mayor Mike Spano honored six local volunteers at the 6th annual Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service, which recognizes those who donate their time to a variety of charitable organizations in Yonkers.
Liz is a veteran Museum Docent who has led countless adult and school groups at all grade levels on thematic tours, and who trains HRM Junior Docents on how to lead tours for the public in different areas of the Museum. Throughout her 10 years as a docent, Liz supported and expanded access for youth to museum resources. She continues to work with her fellow docents and museum staff on how to connect to diverse and marginalized communities. Saralinda Lichtblau, HRM’s Assistant Director of Education, stated, “The HRM continues to benefit from Liz’s experience in the field and passion for reaching out to and lifting up young people, particularly those who have traditionally been excluded from the opportunities afforded those in mainstream society.”
Mayor Spano said, “Our volunteers play a vital role in our community and ensure Yonkers continues to remain a vibrant place to live, work, and play. As the Mayor of the City of Yonkers, I truly appreciate everyone and recognize the contributions that are made every day.”
We thank Liz for her countless contributions and congratulate her for this well-deserved honor.
