News 12 Covers Free First Fridays Featuring MorDance
News 12 recently visited the Hudson River Museum for Free First Fridays: Ballet, Bach, & Bold Women’s History on Friday, March 1, 2024, to cover the dynamic performance by Yonkers-based MorDance, a trailblazing, women-led ballet company striving to advance accessibility, diversity, and creativity in ballet.
The company kicked off Women’s History Month by presenting a piece titled Humanism, an immersive contemporary ballet inspired by Bach’s melodies and civil rights speeches. The dancers performed throughout the Museum, activating the galleries to the delight of audiences. Morgan McEwen, founder and Artistic Director of MorDance, was interviewed by News 12, stating, “It is of utmost importance to me to give women an opportunity to be heard in my artistic field, and it’s also important to me to lift up all underrepresented or marginalized voices through our art form.”
A special thanks to Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program, which supports Free First Fridays and outstanding performances such as this one.
