Shilpi Chandra Joins the HRM as Assistant Curator

The Hudson River Museum is excited to announce that Shilpi Chandra has been appointed Assistant Curator. In her role, Shilpi will organize a variety of historic and contemporary exhibitions and help to research and develop the Museum’s contemporary collections.

Shilpi most recently worked as a freelance curator, collaborating with many contemporary artists in the New York metropolitan area, including the South Asian Womxn’s Creative Collective (SAWCC), where she serves on the board, and the Southeast Queens Artist Alliance (SEQAA). Last year, she curated the SAWCC exhibition Social Memory: Sites of Remembrance, held at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. Previously, Shilpi managed the exhibitions program at the Pelham Art Center and worked as a curatorial assistant at the Katonah Museum of Art. She has also taught continuing education classes on Chinese and Indian art history and contemporary Asian art at the Scarsdale Adult School and Hudson River Continuing Education. She holds a Masters in Contemporary Art from SUNY-Purchase College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
